On Friday, 11 September 2026, AgriScape Innovation Company Limited in collaboration with EAST AFRICA YOUTH AGRO-INNOVATION NEXUS (EAYAIN) (EAYAIN) facilitated an inspiring Agri-tourism learning and farm-visiting experience for a visitor from Italy and her partner, providing them with an opportunity to explore Tanzania’s agricultural practices, innovations, and opportunities first-hand. The program provided a unique opportunity for the visitors to gain practical agricultural experience, engage in cultural exchange, and explore Tanzania’s rich natural and agricultural heritage.
The visit brought together the visitors, farmers, and agricultural practitioners in an interactive learning experience designed to promote knowledge exchange and practical understanding of modern agriculture. The team visited Sokoine University Graduate Enterpreneurs Cooperative (SUGECO), where the visitors introduced to different farming activities and had the opportunity to observe and learn about crop production, including chili farming. They interacted with farmers and gained practical insights into how agricultural activities are managed under local conditions. The visit continued to another farm practicing drip irrigation for maize, vegetables, and watermelon production. Here, the visitors observed how efficient irrigation technologies support productive farming while promoting more responsible and sustainable use of water.
During the program, the visitors introduced in a wide range of agricultural sites for short training and field activities designed to enhance their understanding on sustainable agriculture and agribusiness. The vsistors worked closely with AgriScape's and EAYAIN’s technical team and acquired hands-on experience in nursery management, plant propagation, budding and grafting techniques, greenhouse technologies, irrigation systems, environmental conservation, and farm management practices. The experience concluded with a visit to AgriScape’s dragon fruit farm in Sangasanga, where the visitors explored dragon fruit production and participated in a farm-based competition. The activity added an interactive dimension to the visit while showcasing AgriScape’s practical engagement in innovative crop production.
CREATING IMPACT BEYOND THE FARM
The visit was more than a farm tour. It created a platform for cross-cultural learning, agricultural knowledge exchange, and meaningful connections between international visitors and local farming communities. The Italian visitor appreciated the experience and gained practical knowledge by seeing agricultural practices directly in the field, interacting with farmers, and learning about innovative approaches such as drip irrigation and dragon fruit production. Through initiatives like this, AgriScape Innovation Company Limited continues to connect people, share knowledge, showcase agricultural innovation, and create opportunities for learning that extend beyond local boundaries.
